The Offices of Court Funds, Official Solicitor and Public Trustee was created on the 1st April 2007, when the Court Funds Office merged with the Official Solicitor and Public Trustee.

Mental Capacity Act 2005
On 1 October 2007 the Mental Capacity Act 2005 came into force affecting the way in which the Offices of Court Funds, Official Solicitor and Public Trustee undertake their respective functions.
The new Act provides protection for some of the most vulnerable people in society those who lack the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves. It also allows people to plan ahead and make important decisions for their future, in case they are not able to do so later in life.
